The sixth week of the ISI-Dublin English language Summer Camp. 💪

Week six of the Summer camp was significant as it announced the approach of the end of the Summer Programme. With this in mind, we made sure that the second last week, was a highly enjoyable and fun experience. We started the week with an orientation tour of O’Connell Street for the new students joining us and a tour of Killiney Hill.

We were exceptionally fortunate to have such good weather, allowing the students to enjoy the stunning panoramic vistas Dalkey has to offer. On Tuesday, we took the students to the Book of Kells experience at Trinity College Dublin. The students were able to engage with the history of the book and its significance to Irish culture.

On Wednesday the students had the opportunity to hear some traditional Irish music and practice Irish dancing! It was really entertaining to see the students keeping up with the highly professional dancers teaching them. On Thursday the students enjoyed more commercial activities through the many shops and cafés in Dundrum Shopping Centre.

We changed the pace slightly on Friday by having the students reconnect with nature at the Botanic Gardens. The students were able to enjoy the sun and the beautiful plant life. Following this, the students piled into MHL for the Friday disco. It was somewhat of an emotive experience as the large German group that had been staying for the past two weeks was leaving. Many goodbyes were said, and one could observe the personal connections that were obviously being made at the Summer camp.

Those that remained, traveled to Kilkenny the next day to visit the fascinating Butler Gallery and do a walking tour of the city. The Summer Camp will be a deeply missed but a special part of the students’ lives. As we continue into the final week, one hopes as an activity leader to continue to instill special experiences into the student’s lives.
