ISI Summer Camp 2024 | Week 1

Welcome back to ISI Summer Camp 2024👊

We commenced the week by taking the students on an orientation walking tour of Dublin. We showed and explained important historical buildings and monuments such as the GPO and the Garden of Remembrance. While on O’Connell Street, all the students had an exciting opportunity to look into the portal connecting Dublin to New York City.

Irish Culture

On the cultural side, we showed them Temple Bar, where the group took a traditional picture outside the world-famous pub and the musical wall of fame. The next day, we took the students to the Book of Kells experience allowing them to engage with one of the most unique and interesting parts of Irish history. All the students were also thoroughly pleased to explore the beautiful parts of Trinity College campus.

Trivia

On Wednesday, there was a competition of trivia and athletics. In Belvedere, there were competitive sporting events that allowed the students to get to know each other better and practice their English to win. These sports included volleyball, dodgeball and Swimming. Following sports we moved into MHL, to begin our quiz. The same teams remained to foster a sense of friendly competition. There, were three rounds of questions on the topic of sports, geography, and film.

On Thursday we took the students for a bit of retail therapy in Dundrum shopping centre, allowing the students to relax and enjoy some free time, all while shopping to their heart’s content.

Chester Beatty Museum

On Friday, we took the students for one final dose of history at the Chester Beatty Museum. This allowed them to learn about the religions of the world. We then returned to MHL, to watch the Spain vs Germany euros match. As many of our students are from Spain, this was an evening of great excitement. Spain won, which set the mode perfectly for our all-pink theme disco afterward. The students celebrated their victory and got to spend more time together while partying.

Saturday Trips-Kilkenny

On Saturday, in the early morning, the students traveled to Kilkenny to explore the grounds of the castle and visit the beautiful Butler Gallery. Ultimately the first week of the Summer camp was a fun and exciting time. Hopefully, a theme that will continue as the Summer camp progresses.

Enjoy this week’s photos 😊
