ISI Summer Camp 2024 | Week 2

The second week of the ISI-Dublin English language Summer Camp was thrilling😎

The second week of the ISI-Dublin English language Summer Camp was diverse and exciting. We started the week with a bucolic walk, through Phoenix Park in perfect weather. The students were amazed to see the deer and other fauna strutting to the park alongside them. We made the most of the perfect weather by playing a game of football, right beside the Wellington Monument. On Tuesday, some students engaged in a competitive battle of wits at the escape room.

The students had to engage with challenging puzzles and riddles in a fast-paced game to win. This proved very stimulating for the students as well as entertaining. On Wednesday, we returned to the Belvedere gym for further competition, playing dodgeball, volleyball, football, and other fun games. On the Astro pitch, we had a mini euro’s league going, with Spain vs Italy. We then all hopped on the bus for an evening of bowling, at the Charlestown Leisureplex.

On Thursday, the students were blessed with great weather which allowed the students to see the beautiful views on Killiney Hill in Dalkey. Many photos were taken at iconic sights such as the Pyramid of Dublin and the obelisk before returning to the city centre. On Friday, we immersed the students in culture at the National Gallery. The students were able to look at stunningly beautiful paintings from Ireland, Europe, and other countries. We then took them back to Belvedere for a bite to eat before bringing all the students to our Friday night disco. This week’s theme was the 1990s. Many 90’s tunes were played, and much fun was had. It was very amusing to see such young people dressing how their parents would have been nearly 25 years ago! On our final day of the week, the students arose early to travel to Glendalough Natural Park in Co. Wicklow.

The students were able to see the stunning mountains and forestry and appreciate the famous upper lake. After all that hiking the student deserved a coffee and a rest, before getting back on the bus and enjoying the beautiful coach journey back to Dublin, through rural Wicklow. Week three of the Summer Camp will be our busiest. I look forward to engaging with all our new students in the fun activities we have planned.

From the summer camp team,
Enzo, Marc, and Zeke
