ISI Summer Camp 2024 | Vecka 3

The third week of the ISI-Dublin English language Summer Camp was diverse and exciting. 🙌

Glendalough, Co. Wicklow, Ireland

The Summer Camp has continued to be an exciting experience as we approach the halfway point. We started week three strong, by taking the students to the jump zone. The jump zone is Ireland’s biggest indoor trampoline park. The students loved all the bouncing and falling around the place. The students also enjoyed racing each other and their teachers on the inflatable obstacle course.

We also took the students on a scavenger hunt! Using their newfound knowledge of Dublin, the students had to find important monuments of the city and essential Irish things such as buskers and Irish flags along Grafton Street. On Wednesday the students took things slightly slower with a relaxed and informative day at Collin’s Barracks where they learned more about Irish history. In the evening, the students all piled into the teacher’s club on Parnell Square for a few rounds of musical bingo. All the activity leaders enjoyed MCing the event. The great hits of Ed Sheeran, Britney Spears, and Coldplay were heard and enjoyed. We also had a multitude of hits from Spain, Italy, France, and Germany to make sure that all our students felt included and at home. On Thursday the students returned to the gym and the Astro pitch for more sports and different games.

The students especially enjoyed playing basketball, volleyball, and free dodgeball (a game commonly played in Spain). On Friday, we were fortunate to be blessed with beautiful clear skies, which made it the perfect day for our trip to Howth. Some of the students explored the village while others climbed the cliffs and were offered beautiful panoramic views of the Irish Sea. Some students were even lucky enough to see seals swimming in the Sea. The students then partied the night away at our weekly disco which took place in the teacher’s club. On Saturday the students journeyed West to Galway City. The students had the opportunity to see the Galway City Museum and enjoy the street performers that were on display during the Galway International Arts Festival. One feels as though the Summer Camp has ramped up in week three. With a lot of our new activities taking place in the coming weeks, I look forward to seeing the students push themselves further and get the opportunity to try new things.
